Who we are, what we do

Liberty BioRefining LLC was created by Steve Meyer, Randy Roy and Jim McVaney after 5 years of focus on next-generation fuels projects based on waste CO2 from ethanol plants and green hydrogen as part of Carbon Sink LLC.

The Management Team has decades of experience in energy project development, construction and operations, ethanol and biofuels, energy and commodities trading and related public policies and markets and has identified industry leaders to join it.

Additionally, the Team is well connected with and knowledgeable of target ethanol plant ownership groups, allowing for rapid acquisition and consolidation.

The Company will acquire US-based ethanol plants, upgrade them to maximize returns, including generating federal tax credits for clean fuels production, CO2 capture/utilization. Plants will also continue to benefit from state low-carbon fuels standards and other market and regulation-base incentives.

The Team will leverage its experience to improve plant operations, consolidate functions across the multiple plants such as feedstock procurement, hedging, O&M, transportation and accounting, and to attract and retain top industry talent.

LBR Strategy

LBR has strong relationships with ethanol plant owners willing to quickly transact on sales, as well as deep knowledge of best asset opportunities and optimization strategies. Prior experience and project development work has provided for unique industry knowledge and to build a leading, proprietary economic model for identifying the best acquisition targets and for IRR maximization.

Of the more than 190 ethanol plants in the US, nearly half are independent (one-plant) enterprises, with many of those operating with limited resources and conservative investment time horizons. LBR has identified several assets within this group that would benefit from a strategic plan to upgrade and/or expand, monetize green CO2 emissions and aggregate risk management functions for corn purchases, product transportation, ethanol sales, insurance, HR and other back-office functions.

Based on knowledge of existing technologies and systems, ethanol plant operations and economics, and regulatory and tax incentives, LBR has developed a proprietary model for selecting the optimal plants to acquire and integrate into a multi-site plant holding and operations company.
